Amidst all the scary news that is circulating on social media I woke this morning to a beautiful forward that proclaimed that the dolphins are returning to the Italian coasts. The news reader went on to say that humans retreating and staying home has spelt peace to the animal kingdom. Not only are the swans to be found in Italian canals due to the absence of tourists but also in the past few months pollution levels all over the world have decreased and water bodies are becoming cleaner!
This helps put things in perspective. At least now we understand why we are going through this global pandemic. Though our hearts ache for all that we as a human race are going through , it cannot be denied that now at least the signs are so glaringly in our faces that if we do not get our act together we may perish!
It sure looks as though Nature means business and means to get Earth right back into balance. Let’s only hope that we humans are a part of her scheme and will still be around to experience Life on this beautiful planet. And what will it take for us to secure our place here when all along we have walked this planet as though we were Her lords?
I guess it just takes a simple shift. Just knowing our own place on Earth and remaining there. Knowing that we are not the most superior species we thought ourselves to be but that we are just one among the many facets of Nature. A facet that Nature might well do without if it proves to be cancerous to her system.
Sounds harsh? Well I guess it’s not harsher than what the animal and plant kingdoms have had to go through when forests were felled and slaughter houses became torture chambers.
Yes. Let’s hope Earth still has a place for us . I guess it now depends on whether the rest of the species want to coexist with us! The only choice left to us is to atone and live at one with the rest of life , loving and appreciating all the species of Nature we took for granted so long!
Hopefully we have learnt our lessons and simple living and peaceful coexistence will be the name of the game now that Life has given us a chance to stop and “smell the roses.”
